Download, unzip and run 'RootkitRevealer' from Sysinternals:
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/RootkitRevealer.html
Once the program has started, press Scan and let it run.
When the scan is done, use 'File > Save' to place the logfile in a convenient location (such as the desktop). The default filename will be 'RootkitReveal.txt'.

Save your Log File
Copy/Paste the contecnts of that logfile into your next reply

NOT touch the PC at ALL for Whatever reason/s until it has 100% completed its scan, or attempted scan in case of some error etc !

That way you should have a much simpler and clearer log file in which to pursue and evaluate.

Ok, the scan is complete.

3 items were found, each containing personal contact email addresses. For this reason, i have masked part of the email address out.

Hey, thats ok!

I have been very grateful of your help so far, so take as long as you need :)

Well, the coolweb dialler does not seem to be bugging me any more, although i have not done anything else since my last post on here. It just seems to have 'vanished'.

Anyway, i shall post a new HJT log. If you could tell me if im still infected, i would be very appreciative. Apart from that, everything seems to be fine at the moment! Thanks for all your help!

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

As before, HJT failed to fix/remove any of the 4 items you listed. My HJT log is the same as previously posted.

Although these items should not be listed, i am currently content with how everything is running. No popups, no diallers. Im happy!

One of the best features of Windows XP is the System Restore option, however if a virus or spyware infection.
There can be backups made in the System Restore folder.
Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus or spyware removal.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account
which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because
you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

This will make a new restore point you can use however I would like you to try this registry cleaner. After you are done.

Download RegSeeker http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm.
Extract it to it's own folder, open and double click RegSeeker.exe to start the program.
Maximize the window and click clean registry. Check all sections and click OK.
When the scan is complete, verify the backup box in lower left corner is checked and click the select all button, then select all again.
Then right click within the search results and select delete.
Run it twice deleting everything it finds.
Reboot and make sure your programs are working properly, control panel and add/remove programs windows open, etc (basically just do a quick check of everything).
In the event anything was 'broken', you can open RegSeeker, click backups and double click any/all files to put the information back.
A reboot may be required for the effects to be seen. Reboot When done.

Then post a new log from hijackthis.

Hey,

Overall the PC is running extremely well now. Thank you for your concern!

It seem's that the last few bits and bobs that were bothering me have disappeared.

Extremely grateful for the help i have received in this forum!
Keep up the great work!!!

Great

I have tried so many times to remove these items, but to no such luck.

They are extremely stubborn, and although HJT says that they were removed, they are still listed when performing a new scan.
I have tried to remove these items 50+ times.

Are you familur with the registry editor ?

Go start run type in
regedit
expand the branches untill you are at this location (be carefull)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects

rightclick on Browser Helper Objects choose permisions, there should be no denys there, select the administator and system group one at a time and put check next to allow, again there should be no deny's.
click apply then ok and exit regedit.
You should be able to fix those items with Hijackthis now ?

Doesnt seem to be much luck there.

There are no 'denys' for any of the items listed (administrator, system etc). Just 'allows'.

You understand they arent a problem, Might be if or when you go to install a new bho though

Lets check
Copy the contents of the code box below into a new notepad document (not wordpad).
Click file> save as...> call it check.bat > file types *all files*> and save it to desktop.
Code:
@echo off
Echo.
Reg save "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects" Bho.hiv
Run check.bat then either send Bho.hiv to me or attach it at spykiller
Send it to submitlonnyATsubratam.org
Replace AT with @ , include a link back to this thread.
Or you could attach it here http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=1.0

*Bravo Bravo*

You have eliminated those stubborn BHO entries :D: !!!
THANK YOU!

Heres a fresh HJT log. How is it looking?
