Trouble with XP after running Spy Bot

My wifes sister dropped off my old laptop she has been using, said it was running slow. I downloaded the last years updated for Spy Bot and ran it.

I cant get passed the welcome log in screen, although she has no password, it shows her wallpaper for just a moment and kicks back for a log in.

Can anyone help? I have no recovery discs, just her computer that wont start up. Ive tried all other safe modes.
