Update function corrupted or disabled?

Daily I go to Update, press update, file retrieved, updates installed, yet I am told my signatures have not been updated for 9 days? Now Windows action center is warning me about failing to update? I have tried updating several times and am at wits end.

Try upgrading to Spybot 2.4:

If you still get warnings from Action Center about needing to update after that,please tell me.

Doesn't Spybot 2.4 include an anti-virus program? I don't want that.
