Update installed new version - still have old version

1. Old version in Program Files folder "Spybot".
When updating, it installed a whole new version in Program Files folder "Spybot-Search & Destroy".
Can I just uninstall the older version of S&D (in different folder)? delete the folder?

2. When starting my computer, old "Spybot" folder miraculously appears in "open" view. What can I do to get this out of my start-up?

I'm really not well versed on process, etc...

The default installation folder for Spybot is and has been since at least Spybot 1.2:

• C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy

Do you have one or two entries for Spybot in add/remove programs and what are they?
