Hi
I seem to have a virus on my computer which has disabled Spybot S&D. I first realised when I noticed symptoms of the "Google Redirect" virus (google links redirecting to other pages), and tried to run Spybot S&D, but it just came up with the "Spybot has stopped working" error. I tried reinstalling and running, but I got the same error. I tried the same thing in safe mode, but it wouldn't run (not the same error, this time i double click on the .exe and nothing happens).

I tried downloading Hackthis, but the same thing happens to me! The problem seems to be getting worse, as I am now getting "Windows Explorer has stopped working" errors on bootup. In fact, I can't even run the computer on normal mode now, because Windows Explorer shuts down before I can do anything.

I'm using a different computer to access this forum, because I don't want to make the problem worse.

Can anyone help me?
 
Hi and welcome to the Forums :)

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.
 
Thanks for your reply, but I managed to fix the problem already. I got help elswhere, and after many scans and diagnostics, my computer is now free of the rootkit that was disabling the anti-malware and causing Windows Explorer to crash. Thanks anyway!
