I tried the forums at PC Pitstop. After much nervous waiting and another nights sleep my son let slip that he changed his restricted password while I had left the computer doing one of those looooong scans.
So he didn't change the admin password, I had actually password protected it. So I had to try every password I could remember and luckily found the right one.
Much ado about nothing. (go on, have a laugh at me! :laugh
All my scans are coming up clean now but I must admit I am feeling overwhelmed with all these new things. I have saved a copy of those "follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:" instructions so I can refer to it and hopefully keep everything clean and secure.
