Warning Message.

Hi. During a Spybot scan I got a "Warning" message :- "There are problems in the include file C:\Documents and Settings\---------. See Include Errors Log for details" and this brings up the same file name in the Problem box. What action should I take,please. ?

You need the TCP/IP plugin with the new rule set included in beta updates on 2007-06-06 and regular updates starting on 2007-06-13 or else you will get the above error.

The TCP/IP settings plugin enables Spybot to use new rules which can detect IP addresses entered by malware and exchange them with non harmful entries.

To download and install the TCP/IP plugin you either have to:

• Download the following update using the integrated update facility:
  • TCP/IP Settings plugin - !TCP/IP Settings plugin (65 KB) - 2007-06-06
  
  --- or (if you do not use the integrated update facility) ---
  
  
• Download and execute the following item from the Downloads Web page:
  • TCP/IP Plugin 1.0 - product description - product description

    This adds capabilities to find and replace malicious network settings. Only needed if you do not want to use the update function integrated into Spybot-S&D.

This advice sure beats SpyBot's inbuilt help

For me this error first appeared after long use of 1.4 when I gathered in the latest updates after a 2-month-long absence. SpyBot's help index gave this advice, which I followed to no avail:

This error should no longer occur with Spybot-S&D 1.4 (online link)!

There were some commands added to the new version Spybot-S&D 1.4. Some of the new detection rules do already employ these new commands - earlier versions cannot resolve these commands and therefore the error message comes up.

So, please download the current version from one of our mirrors (online link).
You can install this new version right over your existing version but in order to avoid compatibility issues, please remove the following folders before:
Spybot folder\Includes\ (e.g. C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Includes\)
Spybot folder\Updates\ (e.g. C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Updates\)
You will also have to update your new version using the integrated udpater.
