Beta 2 is indeed great. I love my NoScript and Adblock Plus on Beta 2.

The new malware warning is good too. I entered a bad site by chance and it warned me. But it was scary. The screen suddenly greyed out. :fear:

Same for invalid security certificate. It has a nice warning, something like IE7. It's easier to understand, but no so easy to continue on like in IE7. I prefer the IE7 way in this case, just temporary allow it.

There's a few steps to go through.

The new password remembering feature is great. No more irritating pop up. :D:

firefox is just generally easier to use. I can get things done much quicker with firefox.

At the moment I haven't really found the new 'places' feature very useful. I personally like a clean interface, to maximise web page space. So i usually just hide the bookmark toolbar, and use the url bookmarking feature instead.

Actually, i just tried the 'invalid security' certificate for an email server, with firefox. And personally i found the process much easier than internet explorer. If you want to validate a certificate (permanently) on internet explorer 7 you have to through more steps.

I prefer accepting an insecure security certificate temporarily. Not permanently. For that, FF2 and IE7 works well.

nice updates there (lolz)....

is the password remembering feature reliable?

but IE7 is not available to all Microsoft OS isn't it? So i decided to use firefox(not beta) for the time being until more "advanced" IE comes available to my OS (which is Win 2000. quite outdated, i know that XP)

it remembers passwords for this forum, and keeps the passwords (and usernames!) separate between different accounts. ie. I don't see my remembered username and password for my youtube account popping up in the forum's 'log in' field.

and you can set a master password to protect all your passwords and usernames. + there are some add ons that add another layer of protection, by encrypting the passwords.

with multiple users

On our home computer, we have 4 users with their own settings/screens...what do you call those?

If I download Firefox onto my screen, will it show up on all the others? Thanks.

If it's on the same computer, it is called user profile. If they are on different computers, it's still called user profile. Firefox won't show up in their screen unless they choose to open it. Of course, when Firefox is installed, they can see it in their Start menu programs as well (assuming it's the same computer, not different computers).

One thing you must take note of is that Firefox can assume a role as the default browser for all users if you are not careful. I believe this is the default behaviour if you answer yes when Firefox prompts you to use it as your default browser. You can switch it to your default browser manually without affecting the other users, but it's a little bit more work.

@honda12 and tpro1. I agree... personally I only use IE7 only for Microsoft Updates. Other than that I stick with the current version of Mozilla Firefox. Personally, I like Firefox's themes and I stick with one add-on (Siteadvisor) because adblock add-ons... I do not find much of a use because Firefox already has a default built-in pop-up blocker. :)

Also, Mozilla Firefox 3 will be hitting Release Candidate soon. I'm so excited >:D. Windows XP SP3 should be coming out around the next week or so.

Ie Yech!

I have found that IE is the one that the majority of the viruses and infections go for. I use Firefox almost exclusively when I am doing webwork. It has so very many of the basic protections built into it that its simply the safest to use. It may not be the VERY best but in My opine its the safest.

Yes, you are totally right. In my opinion whatever IE does, it still is going to be the most targeted browser because of the huge number of people who use it. Firefox is great browser and like you said it has loads of basic protections, but as more people use it, the more it will be targeted aswell. Baddies :devilpoin: don't neccesaryily go for the easiest browser to hijack (IE) - I would have thought they would be going for the browser that the most people use (IE) (which unfortunately in both cases is IE!)

Lets say I made a new browser - not based on any other browser. I and a couple of friends only use that browser. The chances that someone is going to hijack that browser is very slim (they are either bad friends or my alter ego does some hijacking!)

But if my browser became really popular at work, the chances that someone is going to hijack my browser is higher.
