I'm having a new computer built with Windows 7 installed. I want to use the Whitelist feature of SpyBot on this computer before connecting it to the Internet. Only one problem: I have the installation program for SpyBot and downloaded it to my current computer, but to download and install it on the new computer requires connecting to the Internet. If the only thing I do is download the SpyBot program, is my system still considered "clean" as far as the Whitelist function is concerned? In other words, how do I get SpyBot installed on the new computer without connecting to the Internet?

installing spybot

My question wasn't about transferring the spybot setup file. Assume the setup file is already on my new computer. Now I have to run the setup file which will connect me to the internet and download the files to set up the spybot program. After doing this, is my computer still considered to be "clean"? Or. is there another way to install the spybot program without connecting to the internet?

As I recall, though it has been awhile, you don't need to connect to the internet to download additional files when running the Spybot setup file.It will install fine without an internet connection, except an internet connection would be needed for the updates. If you'd rather not connect to download updates, you could download the manual update file to your old computer, transfer it to the new computer, and run it after Spybot is installed. The manual updates are under Other Downloads:

Doing it this way should be the safest way.

As for whether your computer would be considered "clean" if you connected to the internet during setup, this page tells about the whitelist link being available for computers that are under 30 days old, explains why that is,and has a recommendation at the bottom,so that will give you a general gist on the spybotian thoughts about it. :)
