I recently "upgraded" from the free version 1.6.2 to Spybot + AV Professional Edition 2.9 .
My last few scans on this free version (on Windows 11) returned these messages:
-- Search result list ---
Error during check!: Win32.OnLineGames.gen [295 - $480ADD5A] (Access violation at address 00713C1A in module 'SpybotSD.exe'. Read of address FFFFFFFF) (Status)
Error during check!: Please wait scanning download directories (Access violation at address 00713C1A in module 'SpybotSD.exe'. Read of address FFFFFFFF) (Status)
I found some suggestions on an old Forum Post and followed them, to no avail.
So then, I upgraded to the Pro version and did a full scan, hoping it would resolve the problem. It did not reproduce these error messages.
Since "Win32.OnLineGames.gen" is listed as a password stealer, I would like to make sure that it is completely out of my system.
Why was "Win32.OnLineGames.gen" found when using the older version and not found with the new version?
Am I clean of this potential malware?
Thanks again,
dFolger
