Windows update verclsid.exe causing IE to not load URL

A recent Windows Update has caused IE to stop loading URL's. I used HijackThis and in the log noticed a few entries for verclsid.exe. Other forums suggest this is the culprit. Has anyone els had this problem and can you suggest how to fix please?:
