Winfixer and pop up problems - Please Help!

I have some sort of Virus that is frustrating me. It pops up in a Winfixer ad and everything I do to get rid of it seems to get it more and more aggressive.

I have downloaded the latest Java program and also downloaded Webroot spysweeper, but to no avail. Can anyone help? I would post my hjt log but the attachment feature on this site says that my HijackThis.exe: is invalid.

I am lost.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
 
Vundo does not close

Hello,
I did as you suggested but when the "Vundo fix will now close and reopen..." box appears, it never closes despite waiting over three minutes. I then press "ok" and then nothing happens again.

Please advise.

update

I finally was able to run Vundofix (see previous thread) but when I click on "remove vundo" it says no files are found.

Also where do I find the file vundofix.txt? I need to post it to you.

situation deteriorating

Over the past three days computer is starting to freeze up and crash at start-up. My doom virus and Winfix dialog boxes appearing. Getting worse as time goes on.

there was something wrong with your vundofix log, it should've removed the infection, which it obviously didnt do

Please download VundoFix v4.2.35 to the Desktop:

  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it
  • Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task
  • You will receive a message saying VundoFix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click: Scan for Vundo
  • Once it's done scanning, click: Remove Vundo
  • A prompt asking if you want to remove the files appears, click: Yes
  • Once you click yes, the Desktop goes blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, a prompt to shutdown the computer appears, click OK
  • Turn the computer back on.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items, if still there:

windows registry recovery box

Speed and pop ups vastly improved. Thank you.

There is still a box named "Windows Registry Recovery" that pops up frequently. It states:

"One of the files containing the systems registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful."

Is this of any concern beyond an annoyance?

however there still may be somthing, so :



Please download ewido anti malware it is a free version of the program.
  1. Install ewido security suite
  2. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  3. Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  4. The program will now open to the main screen.
  5. When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  6. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    (the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  1. Restart your computer
  2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

then launch ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
  • Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
Close ewido anti malware.

reboot back to normal mode, post the ewido report and a log from a fresh hjt scan

I followed your directions downloading Edwido Suite but encountered problems with the freeware due to the fact that I had previously downloaded the software a year ago. It says I must buy it, which is not a huge deal but if I can get the freeware...well, all the better, and I donate my money to your organization.

Any suggestions?

even if your trial has expired previously you should still be able to install the program, scanner only.

your previous install was likely version 3.00 ?

the newer version has been significantly improved
