Zlob.DNSChanger Gone???

Greetings Good People!

According to a recent SB S&D scan, I contracted the referenced virus. I read the forum posts here, researched manual disinfection methods, ran some scans and Possibly removed the virus... but I've chosen to ask the experts here for verification assistance.

Per the "BEFORE you POST" Sticky, I'll provide a brief recap of my experiences and actions... as best I can recall:

First, I'm basically a Noob. That said, I now understand there are at least 2 possible avenues of infection in my case. I saw the ActiveX load prompt and Did Not click the download link (Born at night... but not Last Night)... and yet may have gotten the infection Anyway?!? And, I recently learned about P2P (not enough apparently)... downloaded UTorrent and began down & uploading files. Shortly thereafter... (couple days) I realized I was in for a battle... my D3ll 8400 started to act very strange. So I updated and ran my usual scans and cleans (AVG 7.5 Free, Ad-Aware 2007, Spybot S&D, Spy Sweeper, CleanUp!, CCleaner, Ace Utilities, and deleted Java Temp files). S&D finds Zlob.DNSChanger along with a couple of minor cookies. I clicked Fix Problems... (yes they were "checked")... and thought S&D had eliminated the virus... but it had not. I still wonder why not. Is that question answered in another thread?

Then I Googled for help, and of course, most want to sell you their "cure"... or, Spyhunter states I can attempt a manual clean myself. Along with other tasks, they direct you to registry locations for deletions. Problem was... I found no registry keys on my system matching those they described. I also recalled Trend Micro's identified threat's registry locations did not appear to be the same. So, Hmmmm... Do I have a virus or not? I read prior posts here on the same topic... tried Fixwareout... not sure if Fix box was checked, but went back and found it checked apparently by default, so I imagine it was checked at first run. I did not run it that second time. Then went to safe mode, ran S&D... oops... Zlob reappears. I did the System Restore thing somewhere during this process as well. Ran Kaspersky online scan... I still have that log... found 10 viruses and over 80 other threats. You Play-You Pay... Kaspersky... if you want them to fix it. Frustrated and bewildered, I came back here to "BEFORE you POST"... prepped to ask for help... and followed the "Pre-Post Procedure" requested. And Voila'... while running S&D in Safe Mode, S&D fixes the problem... rescan shows totally clean. I close S&D, disable System Restore while still in safe mode and reboot.
I immediately enable system restore and rerun a couple of scans... nothing found to speak of. I have not rerun S&D out of safe mode yet. Frankly, I'm afraid I might be disappointed that Zlob.DNSChanger removal was just an illusion.

Now... I defer to you... the experts. Let me Thank You in advance for any Zlob removal verification help you're willing and able to provide! BTW... many forum experts in other forums state that Spybot forum experts are the BEST at this. Well Done & Congratulations... That speaks volumes to me.

Note: The following online scans were run just prior to following the requested forum post prep procedure. I'll be happy to rerun if expert deems it necessary.

(1) eTrust/CA: 2 scans
1st scan: No infections found
2nd scan... scanning process froze

BTW... I saw no link to obtain a log. It may be that one is available only when threats are detected.

(2) Trend Micro: 2 scans
1st scan... 2 threats found and cleaned (did not document threat ID's)
2nd scan... "HouseCall did not find any potential threats on your computer. Make sure you run HouseCall once a week to keep your PC clean and malware free."

But I am concened this may be hidden Wareout. Usually we see a marker in the HJT log, but the Ukrainian hackers seem to have new tricks up their sleves in their search for information to steal. Let's run a tool to find out.

The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.
Include any information I requested.

To disable SpySweeper: Open the program
On the left, click: Options, then > Program Options
Uncheck: Load at windows startup
Again on the left click: Shields and uncheck all items there.
Uncheck: Home Page Shield
Uncheck: Automatically restore default without notification

We need to disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
Open Windows Defender, Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

No problems to my knowledge so far... and no, I do not recognize the Specific entity known as United States San Francisco Freedom Networks Llc. I briefly searched for some solid information regarding their business... but to no avail. I was in the debt relief industry for some time, (many of these companies use the word "Freedom" in their name), and it might be that during my due diligence, one of those websites injected some junk.

I'm surprised to learn I'm running 2 AV's. I do understand this is not good. I thought I only had AVG on my system.:red: Which other AV is present?

And Thanks So Much for the McAfee links. Those "dangling chads" have bugged me for some time now... ever since I tried to uninstall following their last major update. That update put so many of their user/subscribers into a serious quagmire.

I unchecked and saved everything as you instructed with SpySweeper... however, Automatically restore default without notification was not shown under any of the menu tabs. Defender and then HJT also done.

Question: I wasn't clear as to my assigned task utilizing the Clean Manager link. Should I have downloaded before HJT fix... and then run it following HJT log save... and before reboot... or was it a courtesy FYI? I apologize for my lack of full understanding there. I'll be happy to backtrack if need be.

clean manager is a windows tool:
Start > Run > type "cleanmgr" without the quotes and OK. I personally delete what Windows finds.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
