Command Service, Virtumonde, various other problems...please help!

OK! By accessing Avast's log viewer, I was able to save, copy and paste the following warning log. I saved the log as virus log.3-9-08.txt.

No such file found. Things seem to be running much better! Thank you! Is it safe to delete and/or uninstall the logs and programs installed to fix the problem? (If not now, at what point?) (with the exception of Avast)

Most of them will get deleted during final cleanup step but if some are left behind, just ask :)

Any other issues left?
 
I ran a new Avast scan. Frustratingly, it found many problems. I moved these to the chest. I actually had to stop the scan b/c there was not enough storage space in the chest. (I have expanded the space and can run a new scan if needed). I will post that log here. (No, I won't; it would take 6 posts to complete, but it is saved, so ask if you need it). Also, I will post a new HJT log.

Hi

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
  • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

    o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

    + Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

    o Scan Options:

    + Scan Archives
    + Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Note: This scanner will work with Internet Explorer Only!

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

  • Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

Re-enable system restore with instructions from tutorial above.

Re-scan with kaspersky.

I was unable to find the following files/folders:

You did not say that these may not be found, so I wanted to make sure before I continued with the other steps. I did empty recycle bin, however.
 
Okay, I found and deleted the last folder, but the first three are still not showing up. I should say, however, that if I SEARCH for those files, a different folder/file shows up. For example, CONFLICT.1 shows up as PopCapLoaderObject. Again, did not want to remove without knowing for sure if this IS the same.

You were supposed to empty this folder and not delete:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner.DARLENE\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\jar

They are two different things.

As for the rest:

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

After that, just follow my previous instructions but also post otmoveit log in addition :)
 
Luckily, I had not yet emptied recycle bin, so restored "jar" folder and emptied it. :) I think my brain is still in "sleep" mode.
