All that happens is that my homepage has changed and i cant change it back and everytime im on the pc mcafee pops up and says it has found and cleaned a .tmp file somewhere along the lines of FakeAlert-B. It does tht every half hour and i have done serveral spyware scans with spyware doctor mcafeeantispyware and a couple of virus checks with mcafee viruscan and its still like it help please.

What version of SpyBot is it you have ?

Do a full system scan with your antivirus program

I have spybot 1.4 and i did a full scan with my antivirus it came up with process.exe pup. apart from that the only other problem im having is i dont have a C:\ icon in windows explorer. thanking you for the help so far
 
Thats odd. Doubleclick the my computer icon
Go tools > folder options > file types tab
Hilight "drive" click advanced > click change icon
choose the drive icon there, click ok
How did that go ?
 
Yes i found it very odd. I had no C:\ icon and all my other drive icons are fine i dont know why only that one icon changed. I did what you suggested but that didnt work. Thanks for your help though
 
There was no autorun.inf but the registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Driv*eIcons\C] was i deleted it and now i have the icon agen. Thanks very much for your help
 
actually agen another random problem. i wanted to do a windows scandisk and it asked me to do it the next time i started windows. well i restarted windows and it keeps saying everytime i turn my pc on now cannot acess disk scandisk complete
 
How have you been starting it ?

Try it this way
Start > Run > type in cmd
At the command prompt type in chkdsk C: /r or whichever drive you want to check > Enter
Accept the message that chkdsk will run at the next reboot.
Restart your PC
As Roger notes other switches availible - see Help & Support 'Chkdsk'

Then run Disk Defragmenter

a window comes up and sez "Please wait while windows verifies that all protected windows files are intact and in their original versions. after its done that its a normal pc agen but until next time you boot it up...
 
sorry for taking so long to reply. That stoped the disk check on boot up and it works fine now. Thanx so much for all your help i dont kno what i would have done cuz my pc was basically new when this happen.
