Spybot hangs at Fix tool

I'm running Spybot 1.6.0.30 with updates from 9/8/2008. Spybot locates a list of a dozen offenders. However, the app hangs when trying to fix the items. I've tried to rescan and remove one item at a time, but I get the same result; Not responding.

Is there a virus that disables Spybot from making any repairs?

1.) Can you scan with any other software such as antiviruis and another anti-spyware and remove anything you find?

2.) Also what are the items you are trying to remove?

3.) You might have to get a malware expert to look at your system if we are unable to solve this situation....

If you are running Spybot 1.6.0.30 and it still fails to correct the problem, consider posting in the Malware Removal forum and having someone take a look at your system.

If you decide to have an experienced malware removal specialist assist you, please follow the procedure in this link to run scans and produce a HijackThis log:

* "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance).

After you have completed the required scans and produced the requested logs, start your own thread in the Malware Removal forum, making sure to post the HijackThis log produced from the above instructions.
