Any browser has vulnerabilities, but since internet explorer 6 (and 7) were made by microsoft. And since microsoft's windows is the most popular operating system on the planet, internet explorer is the most popular browser on the planet. The more popular the browser, the more 'bad' people you will have to take advantage of it. So hackers and other 'bad' people take advantage of any vulnerabilities that internet explorer has because:
1. microsoft is very slow to patch up their software to block known vulnerabilities
2. Because it is so popular, they can take advantage of more people
This applies to all browsers, including firefox. Except the difference between firefox and internet explorer is that Mozilla regularly updates and patches it's software (to block new vulnerabilities)> One example of this was when Mozilla updated firefox to 2.0.0.10. Within one day, they found major vulnerabilities, so the next day they released 2.0.0.11.
Internet explorer hasn't been updated for years (until now). So the point is that internet explorer 6 is only good at blocking threats from years ago. 'bad' people have found new ways to hijack and do other mean stuff to people through their browsers. Internet explorer 6 has no defense against these new threats.
Anyway for a good secure browser, (you probably know what im going to say!) I recommend firefox :FF:
You can download here:

(heh that is the Europe link - I live in the UK)
Q-Anyway you may think. What is so bad about internet explorer 7 then? It has a phishing filter and it is updated to block all the latest threats.
A-Well the truth is that internet explorer 7 has been found to have some vulnerabilities aswell (one of which is that the default browser setting is not high enough - including it running ActiveX as ndmmxiaomayi explained) (well microsoft aren't that good at making a browser! Look where they got the tabbed browsing idea from...)
But internet explorer 7 is still an OK browser and I recommend at least upgrading to internet explorer 7, to patch up most of the holes in internet explorer 6.
Btw im testing out firefox 3.0 beta 2 atm, and it is soooo much easier to use than internet explorer 7. But I don't recommend firefox 3.0 beta because it is still in beta status.
Anyway some people like internet explorer. (partly because it came with windows. And partly because they always had it) One of those people was my mum. She just couldn't cope with the idea of 'tabbed' browsing. But I managed to persuade her to upgrade to internet explorer 7 (and I tried to make it look as much like internet explorer 6 as possible, and also disabled a couple of features, including tabbed browsing (obviously!

))
At the end of the day it is up to the user to decide what browser suits YOUR needs.
Honda :santa:
Merry Christmas
